Prominent Long Island law firm (with offices in Nassau, Suffolk and New Jersey) seeking an associate with 1-5 years experience to join one of the largest regional real estate and commercial lending practice groups.

Applicant must have a background in residential and/or commercial real estate. Banking/lending experience is a plus.  Also substantial closing experience required, along with research, writing and computer skills.

LEGAL ASSISTANT/PARALEGAL for Commercial Lending Dept

Entry level legal assistant/paralegal position. The position consists of paralegal and secretary duties and will require frequent overtime work. Recent college graduate preferred, with willingness to develop the skills necessary to become an outstanding Senior Paralegal in our Commercial Lending Group. This Group is responsible for drafting and reviewing Commercial Loan documentation, as well as the performance of due diligence in connection therewith. The successful candidate will work independently and will be exposed to significant client contact.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The candidate must be organized, resourceful and detail oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively interact via phone, e-mail and in person with various bank loan officers, attorneys for borrowers, attorneys for lenders and sellers, title companies and insurance companies.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving possible problems or issues in an efficient manner.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills with the goal of developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
