In the public sector, Our Labor Relations and Employment Law Practice Group provides guidance for the negotiation and mediation of labor contracts and has become well-known for its representation of municipal unions. Over the years, the Uniformed Firefighters Association of the City of New York, the New York State Association of PBAs Inc., the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association, and the New York City Detectives’ Endowment Association, among others, have benefitted from our expertise. Our lawyers practice in state and federal trial and appellate courts and before many governmental agencies, including the New York State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), the Office of Collective Bargaining, and the Port Authority Employment Relations Board. Private sector employers turn to us for counsel in response to claims alleging discrimination based upon race, sex, religion, national origin, age and disability, as well as sexual harassment. We practice before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and state and local human rights law commissions. Additionally, we counsel and litigate issues related to restrictive covenants and trade secrets. We also engage in extensive preventive counseling on personnel matters, such as designing company policies and providing advice on personnel and human resource matters.
