M. ALLAN HYMAN   Partner


Allan Hyman is a senior partner and practices in the firm's litigation, real estate tax certiorari and condemnation law departments. He has successfully obtained millions of dollars of tax refunds and savings for clients during his 40 year professional career. Additionally, his practice focuses on representing both claimants and condemnors in eminent domain proceedings throughout the State of New York and other jurisdictions.

Mr. Hyman is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Hofstra University School of Law where he teaches a course entitled, "The Law of Eminent Domain and Tax Review" and a course entitled "Pre-trial Skills." He has lectured extensively at Hofstra University Law School, the Nassau County Bar Association Academy of Law, the Institute of Property Taxation, the Columbia Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He is the author of numerous articles on tax certiorari and condemnation issues in both legal periodicals and the business press.

Active in civic affairs, Mr. Hyman serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. He is presently Counsel to and formerly Chairman of the Board of the Education and Assistance Corporation, a social service organization, which among other things, offers counseling to non-violent offenders as an alternative to incarceration.

Recently, New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos appointed Mr. Hyman to Governor Cuomo's Judicial Screening Committee for the Second Department. As one of its eight members, Mr. Hyman is responsible for the screening of applicants for judicial appointments to all courts including the Appellate Division in the Second Judicial Department. Previously, Mr. Hyman served on the governor appointed State Judicial Screening Committee that reviews candidates for the New York State Court of Claims.

In the summer of 2012, Mr. Hyman was also honored by the WE CARE Fund, which is the charitbale arm of the Nassau County Bar Association, and he was featured in the Winners column of Newsday.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Mr. Hyman also holds a Juris Doctorate from St. John's University Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York State and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Circuit Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and serves on the Tax Certiorari and Condemnation law committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Hyman has earned the highest rating by Martindale Hubbell.
